This work for Northumbrian pipes, bodhran and orchestra was inspired by the composer's visits to Cross Lane Fair with his parents when he was a young boy. The work was commissioned by the BBC Philharmonic and the St. Magnus Festival (at which it was first performed in 1994 by Mark Jordan, Rob Lea and the BBC Philharmonic conducted by the composer).
