Gender: Male Vocal Range: Bb3-D5 Turtle Turtle is a "rabble-rouser" and loves to get the whole gang to tease Toad in fun! This actor should be a strong singer and be able to be a comedian at the same time. He (or she) only has a solo in one number. Audition this student along with Mouse and Lizard to achieve a good trio for "Getta Loada Toad". There are solo singing lines for this role. Gender: Both Vocal Range: B3-C5 Mouse Mouse is always able to ask all the right questions like a talk-show host. Mouse, like Turtle, is full of fun and they should have a good chemistry because of their call/response dialogue and song. This could be a good place to use a smaller child that can perform with mouse like qualities. Gender: Both Vocal Range: B3-C5 Lizard Lizard is definitely the most confused of the Turtle, Mouse, Lizard trio, but eventually joins in the fun. He (or she) should be able to confidently sing the short solo and be a strong addition to the ensemble as an actor and singer. Gender: Both Vocal Range: B3-C5 Snails The Snails are simply unflappable. They will deliver without fail "in the rain or sleet or snow." Cast actors that can deliver their songs with personality, confidence and musical accuracy. They have few spoken lines but their singing entrances are the comedic relief of the show. This is a great opportunity to cast children that have a good sense of musical timing and can sell their songs like cabaret singers! Have visual fun with your "bird family" and cast all size actors. Gender: Both Vocal Range: B3-D5 Moles The Moles should have expressive faces to convey the excitement in "Down The Hill" as well as sincerity in their angelic solo "Merry Almost Christmas". The Moles should be singers more than actors as their lines are few. A good choral blend sets them apart! Gender: Both Vocal Range: Bb3-D5 Squirrels The Squirrels are full of mischief and the actors should be comfortable moving, talking and singing with squirrel like qualities. Cast actors that have good diction, as their soft shoe rendition of "He'll Never Know"" is wordy and quick. Play up the wonderful contrast between the Squirrels and Frog and Toad in this ballad! Jeremy Siskind | Hal Leonard Jeremy Siskind Pianist Jeremy Siskind is the winner of the 2012 Nottingham International Jazz Piano Competition and the second-place winner of the 2011 Montreux Solo Piano Competition. A two-time finalist for the American Pianist Association’s Cole Porter Fellowship, Siskind has performed jazz and classical music at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, in Japan, Switzerland, Thailand, Cyprus, England, Lebanon, India, Tunisia, France, and China. Siskind began serving full-time on the keyboard faculty of Fullerton College in Southern California in 2017 after teaching at Western Michigan University for five years. Siskind is also a leader of the house concert movement, having performed in over 100 houses in 24 different states around the U.S. A proud Yamaha Artist since 2013, Siskind holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music (Jazz Performance and Music Theory) and Columbia University (English and Comparative Literature). Becki Slagle-Mayo | Hal Leonard Becki Slagle-Mayo Becki Slagle Mayo (b. 1956) has been active as a church musician and music educator for over 25 years. Her varied experiences as a director and accompanist for choirs of all ages, elementary through college, set the stage for her career as a composer. As a composer and arranger, she has published over 100 songs, choral anthems, and piano arrangements, including her own solo piano collection. Specializing in music for young voices, Becki strives to introduce important musical, spiritual, and educational concepts to developing students. A graduate of Campbellsville College in music education, Becki went on to complete a master’s degree in piano performance at Mankato State University. She has received numerous ASCAP awards for her contributions as a composer. Becki is the mother of three children (Hannah, Aaron, and Jared) and the wife of Dr. Joseph A. Donna Butler | Hal Leonard Donna Butler Donna Butler Douglas has enjoyed parallel careers in church music and graphic design. For over 20 years she served as Director of Music for churches in Oklahoma, Dallas/Fort Worth, Kansas City and Little Rock, Arkansas. She currently manages communications and publications for Holmeswood Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri. A native of Ada, Oklahoma, Donna holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree in Piano from Oklahoma Baptist University and a Master of Music degree in Theory and Composition from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Donna is published under her maiden name, Donna Butler, and has received annual standard awards from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) each year since 1989. Mrs. Douglas is an accomplished pianist, soloist and freelance composer with over 100 compositions in print. Edwin Willmington | Hal Leonard Edwin Willmington Ed Willmington is the Director of the Fred Bock Institute of Music, Brehm Center for Worship, Theology and the Arts, at Fuller Theological Seminary. Previously his professional career has included serving at Scottsdale Bible Church in Scottsdale, AZ for 22 years; Professor of Music at Point Loma University in San Diego; Worship Pastor at College Avenue Baptist Church in San Diego; and Editor/Writer at Good Life Publications, working under renowned Gospel composer and Gospel Music Hall of Fame member, John W. Peterson. In 1995, while on sabbatical, he created Shepherd’s Staff Worship Music®. Ed's educational background includes a B.A. in Church Music and Conducting (Bethel College, St. Paul, MN), an M.M. in Composition (The University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ), and a D.M.A. in Composition, with a Minor in Theory (The University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ). While at The University of Arizona, Ed studied composition with Professor Jean Berger. Ed is the composer/arranger of more than 100 published works and several recordings, and he served on the Advisory Board for The Hymnal for Worship and Celebration. Walter Rodby | Hal Leonard Walter Rodby Walter Rodby (1917-2005), internationally recognized composer, arranger, conductor and music education received his first public school education on Minnesota’s Mesabi Iron Range, where he graduated from high school and junior college. He continued his music education at the University of Northern Iowa, Trinity College of Music, and London University and received his advanced degrees from Teachers College, Columbia University, in New York City. During his studies in London, he was a member of the Royal Choral Society, directed by Sir Malcolm Sargent, and for two years while at Columbia University, he sang with the celebrated Collegiate Chorale under the baton of Maestro Robert Shaw. In 1959, Mr. Rodby was elected to ASCAP, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. His compositions and arrangements, numbering 350, including nine music books, have been published by 19 American and European publishers. Mr. Rodby taught and directed music groups, primarily vocal, in three high schools and 15 colleges and universities. For over thirty years, he wrote a monthly column “The Choral Folio” for the School Musician Magazine, an internationally circulated publication for the school and church market. Mr. Rodby conducted over 150 festivals and workshops and reading sessions in 20 states and his articles appeared in a dozen state and national periodicals. Mr. Rodby provided significant leadership in every music organization to which he has held membership, including President, Illinois Music Educators Association; President, Chicago Choral Conductors Guild; and President of the Illinois Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association. From 1970 to 1977, on four separate occasions, he organized and conducted concert tours featuring a 100-voice high school choir, in 12 European countries, including Greece and the Soviet Union. Mr. Rodby was a WWII veteran, and as a U.S. Army Infantry Officer (Captain), he served as Ammunition and Bomb Disposal Officer with the 66th (Panther) Division in Europe. He was awarded the Bronze Star, The Combat Infantryman’s Badge, and two EAME Theatre ribbons. Upon his release from active duty, Captain Rodby served 27 years in the Army reserves, and in 1965, he was promoted to full colonel. Upon his retirement, he received the Meritorious Service Medal. In 1998, he received a special plaque from the Department of Defense WWII Commemoration Committee for “outstanding service” for composing and conducting a special celebratory anthem honoring the 50th anniversary of the end of WWII, performed at the famous Punch Bowl Cemetery, Honolulu, Hawaii on November 11, 1977. Mr. Rodby’s awards and honors were many, and included the coveted Steinway Award, the Illinois Music Educators Distinguished Service Award, the Harold A. Decker Award from the Illinois Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association, Cook County Teacher of the Year award, and the National Arts Associate Award from Sigma Alpha Iota, International Music Fraternity, at their 1984 National Convention in Chicago. John Berry | Hal Leonard John Berry Warsaw, Indiana's John Berry learned arranging the hard way - by transcribing tunes from Stan Kenton records. By the age of 16, he was on a lifelong course of writing hundreds of works for jazz bands, including a 45-minute original composition for jazz ensemble and symphony orchestra. In 1973, he left his gig as Selmer's Professional Manager to join the U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors, where he served ten years as a bass trombonist, Chief Arranger and Assistant Director. He wrote over 100 compositions and arrangements for the band, winning commendations from the Army and beginning his career as a published writer. John began writing for Jensen Publications (later acquired by Hal Leonard Corporation) in 1981. After his Army days ("the neatest gig I ever had"), he moved to Phoenix and began teaching at various colleges, including Arizona State University and Grand Canyon University. He now teaches Music Business at the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Tempe, Arizona. In addition to his music credentials (which include study at Indiana University and private study with several Chicago Symphony lower brass players), John has a Communications Degree and a Masters Degree in Human Resources. He and his School Superintendent wife Robin live in Buckeye, Arizona on a four-acre "ranch-ette" with three horses and a donkey, among other animals. Publications by John Berry

Vicki Courtney | Hal Leonard Vicki Courtney Vicki Tucker Courtney was born to play the piano. While the other four-year-olds in her Dallas neighborhood were learning to ride their tricycles, Vicki was taking piano lessons. Vicki's first piano teacher regularly entered her in the Van Katwijk Piano Contests. It was this early exposure to the world of competitive piano that led to an opportunity to study under Paul van Katwijk, himself, a successful composer and the conductor of the Dallas Symphony. While in high school, Vicki's education in musical theory and improvisation opened up new possibilities. With confidence and determination, Vicki embarked on a journey to develop herself as a composer and arranger. No one worked harder than Vicki as she played for every chorus and choral production the school offered, sometimes performing her own compositions and arrangements. Immediately after high school, Vicki was hired as Director of Music for the Youth and Children's Choirs at a local church while studying Piano Performance at North Texas University. Regrettably, the call of corporate America lured Vicki away from her musical pursuits. Many years went by until she was asked to perform at a memorial concert for a previous mentor, which lead Vicki back to her roots in music and her God-given talent. It was time to return to the piano and share with others the joy and healing that beautiful music can affect. Vicki was able to regain the skills and abilities needed to attain a professional church staff position. In 2002, Vicki was apprenticing with Mark Hayes, renowned for sacred and secular choral music and piano arrangements. By May of 2004, Vicki had received her first published choral arrangement and by the same month in 2009, she had acquired over 100 published titles. As a member of ASCAP and ACDA, Vicki currently writes full time while giving private piano lessons. Two siblings, Jack and Annie, return to visit the Magic Tree House filled with a magnificent collection of books that can transport the reader to the wonderful faraway settings featured in their pages. As they read a book about knights and the Middle Ages, Annie is intrigued by the Black Knight and the mysterious quest he says one must successfully complete before becoming a knight. When she wishes to visit the castle in the book, the siblings are whisked away to medieval times and set off to learn more about the Black Knight and his quest. Through their adventure, the two discover the power of hope and the true meaning of gallantry. MAGIC TREE HOUSE: THE KNIGHT AT DAWN KIDS is an adaptation of the second of Mary Pope Osborne's award-winning fantasy adventure books from the Magic Tree House book series. The books are number one New York Times bestsellers - more than 100 million copies have been sold in North America alone. The series has been translated into many languages and is available in more than 100 countries around the world. As the curtain rises, a Jester takes the stage and tells the tale of a magic tree house full of books that will transport the reader to wonderful faraway settings ("Prologue, How Far Can You See?"). Jack and Annie discover a book about knights and castles. In it, there is a bookmark with a strange inscription from the Black Knight, encouraging them to be brave and gallant if they wish to be knights ("You Must Pass My Test"). Inquisitive about the Black Knight and his quest, Annie wishes to visit the castle in the book. Before Jack can intercede, the tree house begins to spin and the two are whisked away to the medieval castle ("A Spin Before Dawn"). At the entrance to the castle, three guards - Mustache, Squinty and Red - stand watch while a grand feast is being held inside to win the favor of the Black Knight. The rumor of the Black Knight's presence has attracted a crowd of commoners, all wanting to catch a glimpse of the elusive hero. The guards let only the nobility into the feast and toss the Commoners out ("Mustache, Squinty and Red"). Finally, the Black Knight arrives, and the guards, star struck, scramble to show him in. Just as the drawbridge is about to be pulled up, Annie and Jack slip through the castle gate. Inside the Great Hall, the Jester and other minstrels are entertaining members of the Royal Court. The Duke requests a song about his favorite subject - himself. The Jester and Minstrels oblige, performing a song about the Duke and his brother, Harry ("The Apple Song"), whom the Duke imprisoned in the dungeon after Harry criticized the Duke's crop of apples. Just as the Black Knight is about to enter, Jack and Annie are discovered by Yates, Rikki, Baxter and other kids whose parents work in the castle kitchens. Convinced that Jack and Annie are thieves, the kids run off to tell the Duke. Before they can return, Jack and Annie hide in a dark room. Annie clicks on her flashlight and discovers rows and rows of shining Suits of Armor. With some help from the Suits of Armor, Jack and Annie imagine what it would be like to be a knight ("To Be A Knight"). Accidentally, Annie leans against a Suit of Armor, causing the whole line to topple like dominoes. Mustache, Squinty and Red appear and believe Jack and Annie are thieves or spies and are lying about their connection to the Black Knight. Keenan, the dungeon master, and the Keepers of the Dungeon welcome Jack and Annie to their new home ("Welcome to the Dungeon"). As they are shown around the premises, they are introduced to Harry, the Duke's brother, now a sad old man who won't speak to anyone, and many other Vagrants who the Duke has had imprisoned for questionable reasons. Keenan and the Keepers leave, and Jack and Annie implore Harry to reveal the location of a secret passageway that might lead them to freedom. The other Vagrants say it's no use - Harry has given up hope and will speak to no one. Annie and the others encourage him to look deep within to find a glimmer of hope ("A Light In the Dark"). Encouraged by the youngsters' moving message, Harry offers to draw a map leading to the secret passages of the castle. Jack clicks on the flashlight so Harry can see better, and everyone gasps - "Is it a wand? Like the wizards carry?" Realizing the power she has, Annie summons Keenan and the Keepers of the Dungeon. When they appear, she shines the flashlight on them and threatens to use her magic wand. With the guards stunned, the prisoners make their escape to the orchard, while Jack and Annie run toward another secret exit that leads to the moat and back to the tree house. The steps they are climbing suddenly come to an end and the two must jump into the moat and swim to safety ("The Legend Begins"). The Black Knight appears on the shore, helps Jack and Annie out of the moat, and praises them for passing his test - they helped the innocent without sword or might, but with their brains and their hearts. He dubs them knights, and thanks them for their service ("You Have Passed My Test - Reprise"). Jack and Annie climb back into the tree house and wish themselves back to Pennsylvania ("Spinning Into Dawn"). Genie Genie is the fast-talking, scene-stealing funny man. Your Genie doesn't need to be the strongest sing and dancer - the ability to do comedy is much more important. Cast a naturally funny actor that will make this character his or her own. Princess Jasmine Princess Jasmine should be cast as feisty and rebellious, yet genuinely sweet and somewhat naï¿½ve. Jasmine is a future leader with strong opinions on how things should be done, and the audience needs to see this side of her as well as the side that Aladdin falls for. Iago Iago is another great comedic role. Like the Genie, he or she need not be the strongest singer, but comedic skills are a must. Iago has several sarcastic jibes and asides. Jafar Jafar is the villain. In order to portray this through casting, consider a taller boy with a changed voice. His songs will not only be more effective, but a deeper voice will help convey Jafar's menace. The Sultan The Sultan should be able to play a father figure convincingly. Although a bit scattered, he needs to be able to portray love and care for Jasmine. Narrators The Narrators (5) can be any combination of boys and girls. All should be able to sing well and speak clearly since they are responsible for setting scenes and advancing the plot. Guards The Guards, including Razoul, need not be the strongest singers. Cast students with good comedic skills who can carry a tune. Ensemble The Ensemble consists of Townspeople, Shop Owners, a Baker, a Matron, Harem Girls, etc. They should be good actors who sing well, as they are featured in all of the production numbers. Magic Carpet The Magic Carpet works best when treated as a character in the show. Rather than a platform on wheels with no personality, having two actors puppeteer the Carpet adds much more fun and creativity. As an infant, Annie had been abandoned on the front steps of The New York City Municipal Orphanage with a note from her parents promising to return for her someday. Life in the orphanage had been rough under the strict hand of Miss Hannigan, but Annie's life was about to change. Billionaire Oliver Warbucks invites Annie to spend Christmas with him in his mansion, and together, they each discover new happiness. Warbucks soon decides he wants to adopt Annie, but when he learns about her dream of finding her parents and the secret of the half-locket she has treasured for so long, he sets his own feelings aside and orders an exhaustive search for Annie's parents. Although the Beast does sing a small bit during "Something There" and the "Finale," this is truly an acting role (and his lyrics can be spoken if you cast a non-singer). The script is written to feature four Narrators, but you can incorporate more students (or fewer) depending on the size of your cast. These roles are non-singing, but the actors can also be a part of your ensemble. Gender: Any Old Beggar Woman/Enchantress The Old Beggar Woman/Enchantress should be portrayed by an actor with a flair for the visually dramatic as this is a non-speaking role. Her transformation in the Prologue needs to entice the audience into the story. After the Prologue, this student may join the ensemble as a Villager or castle Servant. Gender: Female Gaston Gaston is pompous and dim-witted and will do whatever it takes to win Belle's hand. Gaston has all the confidence in the world but lacks the humility to balance it. Finding a strong singer and actor is more important than physical size and stature for this role. He has to be able to sell his big eponymous number with gusto and arrogance as well as lead the Villagers in "The Mob Song." Biceps can be added to the costume, but the bravura needs to come from within. Gender: Male Vocal range top: F5 Vocal range bottom: A3 Maurice Maurice is an aging and eccentric inventor, but more importantly, the adoring and protective father of Belle. This non-solo singing role is perfect for the student who can have fun interpreting this crazy old man while conveying some very strong emotions: fear and fatherly love. Gender: Male Lefou Lefou is Gaston's equally dim-witted lackey. This character needs to be Gaston's foil and should double the laughs for them both. Consider auditioning Lefou and Gaston in pairs to find the right chemistry. Lefou should be able to sing, act and dance. Choose a student who has some gymnastics training if you wish to embed tumbling into Lefou's movement. If you have a student who can handle the French accent, fantastic! Madame has some harmony lines with Mrs. Potts and Babette, so cast a singer who can hold her own but knows when to pull back in order to sound good with the others. Cast an actor who can believably exude his sinister personality. Monsieur D'Arque can double as a Servant in the rest of the show. She has a very small solo ("Lullaby"), but sings in group numbers. Blousey Brown Blousey Brown is at first a typical young, wide-eyed, would-be star, just off the bus from a small town. However, we find out that Blousey is a force to be reckoned with and is certainly nobody's fool. This is a large role that requires good singing and acting, but the key to casting Blousey is finding a young actor who is at home with comedy. A young Carol Burnett type is recommended. Tallulah Tallulah is the classic gangster's moll. Cast a young woman who is self-confident and can deliver the role with deadpan sincerity and droll appeal. Tallulah is a Mae West type with a talent for performing. She needs to be a strong singer for her self-titled number. Fizzy Fizzy is an employee of Fat Sam's at the Grand Slam, whose duties mostly involve cleaning up the place. To cast Fizzy, find an actor who can really delivery the song "Tomorrow." It is a difficult song that requires emotional singing and a significant range. Hopefully, you'll find a singer who can delivery Fizzy's sad-eyed hopes and dreams as he sweeps up. Fat Sam Stacetto Fat Sam Stacetto is the baddest of the bad guys, whose biggest rival is Dandy Dan. Fat Sam should be an adept physical comedian with a commanding stage presence. He sings, so make sure you've got an actor who can carry a tune, but moreover, finding an experienced actor with good projection and diction skills is important. Fat Sam carries much of the dialogue of the show. Note that Fat Sam does not need to be fat. You can dress him in a fat suit or cast a realty small kid with a booming voice for comedic effect. Dandy Dan Dandy Dan is the unflappably stylish, debonair, underworld businessman who outwits Fat Sam every step of the way. Your Dan should be comfortable singing his song, "That's Why They Call Him Dandy." Find an actor with just the right sense of style and grace. You may add as many ensemble members to the gangs as your stage can accommodate. These fellows are bumbling, funny, non-threatening hoodlums. They should be able to sing with gusto (if not in tune) and be willing to work on the rigors of physical comedy. Many productions have successfully cast girls in these roles. Dandy Dan's Gang Dandy Dan's Gang members are really bad guys. Also known as The Hoods, they sing a little, but they splurge a lot! Cast suave-looking types who can pull off slicked-back hair and double-breasted suits. Many productions have successfully cast girls in these roles. The Hoods include Bronx Charlie, Shoulders, Benny Lee, Yonkers, Laughing Boy and Doodle. Tallulah's Girls The Tallulah's Girls perform at the speakeasy, and they include Tillie, Loretta, Dotty and Bangles. These girls should be very at home singing and dancing and should work well as ensemble singers. They are basically Tallulah's gang! Bangles has the most dialogue of these girls, so you might want to put your best actor in that role. Oscar De Velt Oscar De Velt is the stage equivalent of Cecil B. DeMille. A strong, confident actor will fit the bill here. Kiki the Colorist, Cashier and Stylist Kiki the Colorist, Cashier and Stylist Part of Paulette's entourage at the salon who are very adept at the "Bend and Snap." Range: C4-A4 Marbini the Magician Marbini the Magician and The Ventriloquist are two wonderfully funny smaller roles in the audition scene with Oscar De Velt. Both of them are convinced that they are world famous. Cast performers who can really sell these roles for all they are worth. The Opera Singer and the other bits in this scene are all great cameos. Down and Outs The Down and Outs are representative of out-of-work, Depression era men and women of the soup kitchens, which include the Cooks serving in the kitchens. The Down and Outs are ready for a cause, and helping Bugsy bring peace between Fat Sam and Dandy Dan is just what the doctor ordered. Additional ensemble roles in this scene include the Priest, Clipboard Willy and two Delivery Guys. If you have a smaller cast, you can use the splurged from early scenes (Fat Sam's Gang!). Stage presence is more important when it comes to casting Becky. Cast the loudest, most outgoing un-shy person you can. The character of Bobby will be able to get away with imperfections throughout the show, as he is a last minute replacement for Lars. Cast an actor who is outgoing and gets along with everyone. Lars has many prat falls before he actually twists his ankle. Casting an actor with good physical comedy skills would be helpful (always remember that any staged fall or injury should be carefully choreographed and rehearsed to prevent a real injury. Safety first!). You may want to consider having Lars return to the stage a little while after his injury in a wheelchair, a cast or leg brace, or on crutches. This adds to the comedy of the play and opens up the casting of Lars for the actor who wants to be in your show so badly but isn't exactly Baryshnikov. He quickly learns to say "Good Morning" to his dog JIP in Dog and celebrates his achievement (Talk to the Animals - Part 2). Five years later, Doctor Dolittle has learned almost 500 animal languages, has a thriving practice and is planning a big adventure to seek out the Great Pink Sea Snail (The Time of Our Lives). A visit from EMMA FAIRFAX, the niece of General Bellowes, ends on a sour note, but the mood soon brightens with the arrival of the PUSHMI-PULLYU, a two-headed llama. This gift has been sent by a friend to help Doctor Dolittle raise funds for his quest. He takes the Pushmi- Pullyu to ALBERT BLOSSOM of Blossom's Mammoth Circus (I've Never Seen Anything Like It - Part 1) and makes a deal to present the unique animal for a limited four-week engagement (I've Never Seen Anything Like It - Part 2) with an even split of the profits. Doctor Dolittle earns enough money from the circus to go on his journey, but makes good on a promise to help SOPHIE the seal escape the circus and reunite with her husband. This act of friendship lands Doctor Dolittle in court. Though he proves that he was only helping the seal, and that he can indeed talk to animals, the doctor is committed to an asylum by the magistrate, General Bellowes. Doctor Dolittle protests (Like Animals), but is sent away, leaving Polynesia and Madeline to plan a rescue. Having escaped from the authorities, Doctor Dolittle "borrows" a boat owned by General Bellowes to set off on his quest to find the Great Pink Sea Snail. Emma is discovered on board and she questions the doctor's navigational strategy (Fabulous Places). They set off for Sea Star Island and, after encountering a storm at sea, end up shipwrecked in the very place they were looking for. There the travelers discover STRAIGHT ARROW, the friend who sent the Pushmi-Pullyu to Doctor Dolittle. Straight Arrow explains that Sea Star Island is an animal sanctuary (Save the Animals). Doctor Dolittle's dream finally comes true with the arrival of the Great Pink Sea Snail to the island. They converse in Escargot and the Snail agrees to take the doctor's friends back home. Doctor Dolittle explains that he will not be returning to Puddleby and the friends share a tearful goodbye before departing in the Snail. Back home, Emma tries to talk some sense into her uncle with the help of the animals (The Voice of Protest). It works and Bellowes declares Doctor Dolittle innocent of any wrongdoing. The cheers of the crowd are interrupted by the triumphant return of Doctor Dolittle to Puddleby-On-The-Marsh (Finale).
