Lee Dengler | Hal Leonard Lee Dengler Lee Dengler received a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from West Chester University School of Music in West Chester, PA. He studied choral composition and arranging with Alice Parker at Westminster Choir College as well as in her home in New England where he participated in the Melodious Accord Fellowship program. Lee and his wife, Susan, live in Goshen, Indiana where they are Ministers of Music and Arts at College Mennonite Church. Together they oversee a fully graduated vocal and handbell choir program. Lee directs the 60-voice adult choir. Also, he is a freelance editor and engraver for several major sacred music publishers in the United States. Lee is a bass/baritone soloist and has sung in recitals in many churches and in numerous oratorio and operatic productions. He directs the Goshen Community Chorale, a 60- to 70-voice organization which performs a wide range of choral repertoire. Composing has always been a passion for Lee, beginning very early in life. Lee grew up in a Mennonite church in eastern Pennsylvania where four-part a cappella congregational hymn singing was the norm. This planted in him a deep love for singing. This love continues to be an influence in his writing today. Lee composes a wide range of choral, vocal and piano works and has over 220 works published by most of the nation's major music publishers. Rodney Miller | Hal Leonard Rodney Miller After graduating from Lebanon Valley College in 1977, Rodney Miller spent 17 years teaching in Lebanon School District, where he taught strings in grades 3 through 12. Miller also directed the middle school jazz band. For the last seven years before his death in 2005, he was the elementary instrumental music instructor. Miller was a recipient of the Lebanon Valley College’s Creative Achievement Award in 2003. Two years later, he was posthumously awarded the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 7 Distinguished Service Award, and at the same time the PMEA changed the name of this award to the Rodney S. Miller Distinguished Service Award. For the Lebanon School District, Miller ran the instrumental summer lessons program and initiated a scholarship program for students who could not afford to pay for summer lessons. He was also actively involved with the Cedar Foundation, an organization that helped to get instruments to students who could not afford them in the Lebanon School District. Miller was a six-time ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) Standard Award winner. He had over 40 instrumental and choral works published by music publishing houses, including Shawnee Press, Alfred Music, Warner Bros., TRN Music, Educational Programs Publications, Brixton Publications and Kagarice Brass Editions. Miller did graduate work at VanderCook College in Chicago, The Hartt School of the University of Hartford, West Chester University, and the Philadelphia College of Performing Arts. He arranged and performed with the Dave Stahl Sacred Orchestra. For over 20 years, Miller was co-musical director/arranger for the Timbers Dinner Theatre in Mount Gretna, where he lived. Paul Wright | Hal Leonard Paul Wright Paul Leddington Wright was organ scholar at St. Catharine's College, Cambridge where he studied with Peter Le Huray, David Willcocks and Alan Ridout. On leaving Cambridge, he freelanced for four years working mainly in the professional theatre as a musical director. In 1982 he was appointed musical director for the Methodist Association of Youth Clubs, during which time he consolidated the work of the MAYC Singers and Orchestra, which he founded in the 70's. In 1984 he was appointed Organist and Director of Music at Coventry Cathedral, a position he held until 1995. During this period, he recorded and broadcasted frequently with the Cathedral Choir, and toured all over the world, including five trips to the US, Jamaica, and a trip to Italy, where the choir sang for the Pope. He directed the music for many important occasions at the Cathedral, including the Queen's visit to Coventry for the distribution of the Royal Maundy in 1995. Since 1984, he has been conductor of the Cathedral's choral society, the Saint Michael's Singers, with whom he has made over 20 recordings. Many of those recordings have been for the Kingsway Hymnmakers Series. A new series of the choir's recordings has been released in the USA under the Cathedral Classics - Coventry Music label. He has conducted a vast repertoire of choral literature with choirs and orchestras both in the UK and abroad. In 1995, he became parttime at Coventry in order to make space for an increasing work schedule at the BBC. He is the principal conductor for the weekly BBC TV program, Songs of Praise, and since 1986 has conducted over 150 programs all over the world. He is also a prolific arranger for the series. Major programs he has conducted have come from cathedrals, concert halls, and four programs from the Royal Albert Hall, London. In 2000, he conducted 65,000 people at the Cardiff Millennium Stadium. He is also involved with BBC Radio and conducts frequently for the Radio 4 Daily Service and also the Radio 4 Sunday Morning Worship. He also records for Radio 2's Sunday Half-Hour. Since 1991 he has been Artistic Director of the annual International Church Music Festival, which has alternated between Coventry Cathedral, Chester Cathedral and Bern, Switzerland. He was guest conductor for Belmont University's 2007 Christmas at Belmont which was recorded in Nashville's Schermerhorn Symphony Centre, and broadcast nationwide on PBS Christmas 2007 and 2008. Francisco Nunez | Hal Leonard Francisco Nunez Francisco J. Núñez, a recipient of a 2011 MacArthur Fellowship presented to individuals for their “exceptional originality in & dedication to their creative pursuits,” is the artistic director of the Young People’s Chorus of New York City™, a composer, conductor, visionary, & leading figure in music education. In 1988 he founded YPC to provide children of all ethnic, religious, & economic backgrounds with a safe haven for personal and artistic growth & to date has changed the lives of thousands of young people. In association with Chester Novello and G Schirmer, the Transient Glory® compositions are being published by Boosey & Hawkes, where Mr. Núñez is an editor, so that other choruses worldwide can have access to this challenging music. He recently extended Transient Glory® to Radio Radiance™, a radio, digital media and internet program, presented in partnership with WNYC New York Public Radio and American Public Media, to develop new audiences for cutting-edge choral music. Francisco Núñez grew up in close-knit Dominican family in New York City’s Washington Heights. After he graduated from NYU as a piano performance major, he formed the Young People’s Chorus of New York City™, bringing children from underserved neighborhoods together with children from more privileged circumstances. With music as the equalizer, the diversity in the group resulted in new vocal colors and a confident urban style, creating not only a vibrant new choral sound, but also an avenue for children to succeed. As an authority on the subject, he is often invited to give keynote addresses at choral symposia & conferences across the country. Mr. Núñez is the recipient of numerous awards, including an ASCAP Concert Music Award, a New York Choral Society’s Choral Excellence Award, & a Liberty Award from the New York Post. Hispanic Business magazine named him one of the 100 Most Influential Hispanics of 2005; GMC’s national campaign hailed him as an unsung Hispanic hero; and La Sociedad Coral Latinoamericana honored him as its 2009 Man of the Year.
