Hal Leonard to Distribute Magazines to MI Trade
Premier Guitar & Guitar Edge First Titles in Exclusive Worldwide Deal
MILWAUKEE - The world's largest music print publisher, Hal Leonard Corporation will now distribute two leading guitar magazines to music stores: Premier Guitar and Guitar Edge. Under an exclusive, long-term deal with the magazines' parent company, Premier Media Holdings, Hal Leonard will begin distribution immediately to its more than 10,000 MI retailers worldwide.
David Jahnke, vice president of national sales for Hal Leonard, comments on the agreement, "Many music dealers have expressed an interest in carrying magazines in their stores, but didn't want the hassle of having to order from a separate distributor. Now they can add two of the best guitar magazines to their offerings - easily - as part or their regular Hal Leonard orders."
He continues, "Magazines are a perfect, low-price item to keep people coming back to music stores. We're eager to expand our distribution to other leading magazines to match the interests of our retailers and their customers."
Peter Sprague, CEO of Premier Media Holdings, says, "Under Hal Leonard's greener, more efficient distribution model, dealers will no longer have to return covers and destroy magazines that don't sell. Instead, the products will be theirs to use however they please, perhaps in connection with local music education initiatives."
Premier Guitar and Guitar Edge are regarded as the best gear and instructional magazines, respectively, serving today's guitarists. Sell-through percentages for both are among the highest in the guitar market.
