Hal Leonard Partners with Tonara in Digital Content Development Deal

New Deal Makes Top Songs Available for In-App Purchase

MILWAUKEE - Hal Leonard Corporation has struck a digital content development deal with Tonara, creator of an innovative interactive sheet music app for the iPad. Under the terms of the agreement, the music print publishing giant will work closely with Tonara to customize Hal Leonard content. App users will gain access to the most popular songs in all styles and levels via Hal Leonard's cloud-based Digital Asset Management (DAM) system, and these scores will be available for purchase via the Tonara in-app store.

Called "very clever" by The Guardian and "startup stars" by CNN Money, the Tonara app was launched last September. Tonara is the world's first interactive sheet music application that actually listens to musicians and helps them learn, rehearse, and perform. The Tonara app shows musicians their exact position on the score while they play, and automatically turns the pages at exactly the right moment.

Chris Koszuta, digital media product manager for Hal Leonard, comments, "Tonara's score-following technology is remarkable, and they have an impressive worldwide user base. Working with them to make our unsurpassed content available on their app is a win-win proposition, and will make many musicians very happy."

Tonara's vision is to turn music playing into a fun, cool and interactive experience. Tonara CEO and Co-Founder Yair Lavi says, "After three years of intensive research, we developed our exclusive polyphonic score-following technology and have built the first truly interactive sheet music product. Since we launched our iPad App, we have experienced overwhelming reception from musicians worldwide. We're happy to see them enjoying automatic page turning and real-time feedback on their performance. We've built a best-in-class product, and we're elated to partner with Hal Leonard to provide our users access to the best of the best in digital content."

Tonara will officially launch Hal Leonard content for its app at The Israel Conference in Los Angeles on May 31st. For more information, please visit www.tonara.com.
