Hal Leonard Hosts Its International Managers for a Productive Summit

MILWAUKEE - Mark Mumford, Hal Leonard's managing director for Europe, recently visited the company's Milwaukee headquarters and Winona, Minnesota production facility along with Frederic Spannagel, Jeroen Verbeek and Tom Venvell, the sales and marketing managers for France, Belgium and the UK, respectively. During a jam-packed, four-day visit, the European group got fully indoctrinated into how Hal Leonard operates in the United States. They met with the sales, marketing, editorial, creative and IT teams in Milwaukee, learning first-hand the streamlined systems and procedures in place. The group even shadowed district sales managers and account managers, visiting music stores here. Breakout sessions focused on topics ranging from establishing a European version of Hal Leonard's highly successful Dealer Access website, to how to best market to educators to drive business to retailers. The European contingent then headed west to behold all 425,000-square feet of the Winona facility, a state-of-the-art model of efficiency for printing, warehousing and distributing Hal Leonard products. Communication across the Atlantic and throughout the continent is open and frequent for the world's largest music print publisher and distributor. Hal Leonard holds semi-annual sales retreats; the last one was in Germany in early October, attended by managers from the US, UK, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Holland and France. Doug Lady, senior vice president of sales for Hal Leonard, comments, "We were very happy to welcome Mark, Frederic, Jeroen and Tom to take a look at our award-winning operation here, and see how to best replicate it for their regions. This is a very exciting time for us, as our sales abroad continue to grow. We couldn't ask for a better team to lead us into the future."
