Hal Leonard Expands Internationally with Acquisition of Dutch Publisher

MILWAUKEE - Hal Leonard Corporation is pleased to announce the expansion of its European operations with the acquisition of the European Music Centre (EMC), the print music division of Strengholt B.V., a multimedia corporation based in Naarden, Netherlands. EMC represents 50 Dutch and other international music publishers through publishing and distribution of printed music. EMC is not only a supplier of classical and popular music in many European countries, but has also released matching folios of various Dutch artists. EMC is further known for its educational publications, including the guitar methods of Cees Hartog, which are available in several languages. Mark Mumford, Hal Leonard Managing Director for Europe, comments on the deal, "We are excited about our acquisition of EMC. It is a company with an established name in the music world, and we are looking forward to the valuable contributions this will bring to our catalogue, both in the Netherlands and abroad. The famous Dutch educational music publishers Alsbach Educa, De Haske and XYZ are now united as one company." Hal Leonard acquired De Haske, Europe's largest instrumental music publisher, in 2008. The expanded Hal Leonard-De Haske office in the Covent Garden area of London opened in 2011.
