Hal Leonard Puts Hanon in the Hands of Younger Piano Students

New Easy Hanon Provides Excellent Practice Regimen for Elementary to Intermediate Pianists

MILWAUKEE - First published in 1873, Hanon's Le Pianiste Virtuose (The Virtuoso Pianist) has become an undisputed classic, the staple of technical study in music schools and conservatories worldwide. Now Hal Leonard scales down this gold standard of piano pedagogy with its new release Easy Hanon: Simplified Exercises from Charles-Louis Hanon's The Virtuoso Pianist, edited by Christos Tsitsaros. Easy Hanon is a less complicated version of the first part of the classic book, offering 20 exercises, along with the major and minor scales, arpeggios, and additional excerpts. Tsitsaros has shortened and condensed the exercises to make them more accessible for the elementary- to intermediate-level pianist. The book includes: exercises 1-20; exercises for turning the thumb under; preparatory exercises for the scale; major and minor scales; chromatic scales; arpeggios; and more. Tsitsaros also created a bonus practicing plan that provides suggestions for rhythmic and articulation variations to the exercises. About Christos Tsitsaros Christos Tsitsaros is currently Associate Professor of Piano Pedagogy at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
