Much has been speculated on the instrumentation of this contrapuntal masterpiece since Bach's death. This arrangement by Hans-Eberhard Dentler, who has carried out scientific research on The Art of Fugue for decades, manages through the choice of instrumentation not to use any kind of transposition.
