Fred Kern

Fred Kern (1944-2020) was Professor of Music and a Specialist in Piano Education at the University of North Texas in Denton for over 25 years. Widely known as a clinician, author, teacher, composer and arranger, he published numerous texts on piano instruction and more than 500 arrangements and original compositions for piano solo. He gave numerous presentations at the World Piano Pedagogy Conference, the Music Teachers National Association Convention, the Texas Music Educators Association, and the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy. He was a native of Pittsfield, Illinois and formerly taught at Northwestern University and Harper College. He held three graduate degrees in music education, piano performance and pedagogy and the Master Teacher Certificate given by MTNA.
