Jim Andy Caudill

Mr. Caudill was born in Ashland, Kentucky in 1932 and began his musical career at age 5 when his father taught him to play trumpet. In 1950, he toured America as a national champion soloist. While earning his Bachelor of Arts degree from Morehead State University (KY) and Master of Arts from Marshall University (WV), he started composing and arranging for concert, jazz and marching bands. As an educator, Mr. Caudill taught in the public schools until 1968 when he accepted a position at Pikeville College (KY). While at Pikeville College, he taught trumpet, music theory, orchestration, teaching methods, and conducted the Wind Ensemble, retiring in 1997. Notable publications for band include Landmark Overture, Folklore for Band, Odyssey for Band and Heritage Overture.
