Composed by John Tavener through commission by the Royal British Legion for the Festival of Remembrance. First performed on the 8th November 2003 at the Albert Hall, London. The piece is written for double choir, one as a central focus and another as a semi-chorus 'Echo-Choir'. The two groups are then unified for the closing Kohima movements. In accordance with the occasion, the music is slow, noble and highly dignified.
