From Lecons des Tenebres by Marc-Antoine Charpentier (1634-1704)
This simple Baroque choral is perfect for a developing choir of young voices. Charpentier originally wrote this joyous masterwork for 3-Part Mixed voices with an accompaniment of continuo and two flutes or violins. Patrick Liebergen has provided a keyboard part that reinforces the vocal parts, and revised the flute parts to be optional for flutes or violins (parts included in the choral). “Lift Up Your Voice” is a concert opener and is well suited for contest or festival use.
