Description: A nice solo in 3/4 time with Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake theme in the B section. One hand moves at a time.
Purpose: The piece serves to introduce accidentals and also to give practice in playing in 3/4 time which seems to be difficult for beginners to learn, who tend to hold the third beat for two counts.
Suggestions for Instruction: I suggest that they count the note values “quar-ter, quar-ter, quar-ter” so that it is consistent without paying too much attention to the bar lines.
