The White Thrill was written on behalf of the Musikkapelle Sankt Anton am Arlberg, Austria. The theme refers to a ski race–Der weisse Rausch–that takes places every year in Sankt Anton. The composition is in the form of an overture, with a majestic introduction, a fast section, a slow section and a reprise of the fast part. A beautiful and ingenious piece.
