Referring to the founder of Pennsylvania, William Penn, this suite of three appealing settings reflects on the origins and character of this state. The suite opens with the lighthearted 6/8 setting “Punxsutawny Phil.” Next is “Moravian Hymn Variants” which is solemn and rich-sounding, but with a brief spirited middle variation. “Independence Hall” concludes this well-written work in a stately and majestic style. Dur: 7:40 (Grade 3)
