This much-beloved flute piece is probably an alternative slow movement for Mozart's Flute Concerto in G Major, and in its version with piano accompaniment it is indispensable to today's flute teaching and to home music-making. This is undoubtedly due to the broad, sweeping cantilenas of the flute part, which, moreover, can easily be mastered by students; not the pieces low level of difficulty (3).
