The old adage “Red sky at night, sailor's delight; Red sky in the morning, sailor's warning” dates back to the 12th century. The idea that a beautiful crimson sky could be both alluring and threatening was the inspiration for this composition - a descriptive, impressionistic work with a wide variety of tonal colors and textures. Beginning with an exotic alto sax solo (later joined by a counter melody in the oboe), there are other cued solos for flute, oboe, Eb clarinet and Bb clarinet. Dur: 6:40
