Opening with a crash from the band and an extended drum solo, the melody creeps in quasi-Art Blakey style. Small group statements are offset with full ensemble shouts, and half-time sections are contrasted with an uptempo groove. This is from the recording “Heart and Soul” by the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra. Must have been some “little old lady”!
