Barbara Kreader Skalinder | Hal Leonard Barbara Kreader Skalinder Barbara Kreader Skalinder has taught in her independent studio since 1974. One of the coauthors of the Hal Leonard Student Piano Library, she has given workshops in more than two hundred cities in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Asia. Formerly the editor of Clavier magazine, she is also a published poet. Kreader Skalinder received her M.M. Joyce Eilers | Hal Leonard Joyce Eilers Joyce Eilers (July 28, 1941 – June 2, 2009), is recognized as one of the top choral composers in the country, with hundreds of compositions and arrangements in her catalog, best-selling methods for teaching sight-singing, and for her mentoring of young composers. She received her Bachelor of Music degree in 1963 from Oklahoma City University and a Master of Music degree from the University of Oregon in 1967, where she specialized in Music Education. She taught in the Oklahoma public schools and in Oregon and Washington for ten years at both elementary and secondary levels and was an instructor at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. She was a popular visiting lecturer and clinician, appearing before many state music education conventions and universities including University of Oregon, Oregon State University, University of Idaho, Boise State University, University of Michigan, Ohio State University, University of Kansas City-Missouri, University of North Dakota at Grand Forks, and Arizona State University. Eugenie Rocherolle | Hal Leonard Eugenie Rocherolle Composer, lyricist, pianist, and teacher, Eugenie Rocherolle began an early career in publishing with choral and band music. In 1978, with the success of her first piano solo collection, she soon established herself as one of the leading American composers of piano repertoire. Her music is widely distributed throughout the United States and abroad. A native of New Orleans, she graduated from Newcomb College of Tulane University with a BA in music. Her junior year was spent in Paris where she had a class with the late Nadia Boulanger. She was honored as the 1995 outstanding Newcomb alumna. A "Commissioned by Clavier" composer, she was also one of seven composer members of the National League of American Pen Women whose works were chosen to be presented in a concert at the Terrace Theater of the Kennedy Center, Washington, D.C. Awards from the Pen Women include a first place for both piano and choral in biennial national competitions. Mrs. Rocherolle's creative output also includes works for solo voice, chorus, and orchestra; musical theater; and chamber music for a variety of mediums. She is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP); Connecticut Composers Inc.; and the National Federation of Music Clubs. Her biographical profile appears in the International Who's Who in Music, Baker's Biographical Dictionary of 20th Century Classical Musicians, International Encyclopedia of Women Composers, Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who in the East. Mrs. Rocherolle has released recordings of her piano music, Spinning Gold and Romancing the Piano, and her Christmas arrangements, Tidings of Joy, on an independent label, Aureus Recordings. Linda Spevacek | Hal Leonard Linda Spevacek Over the past two decades, Linda Spevacek has become one of the most successful composers in modern choral music. She has sold more than 7 million copies of over 700 published compositions and arrangements. Linda has continued to keep her compositions original and creative while maintaining the consistency and integrity that has given her a world-renowned reputation. Dynamic, inspiring, creative and expressive are just a few words that describe the level of excellence found in every Linda Spevacek composition, arrangement, seminar and reading session. In addition, singers from all over the world performed her arrangements twice on the nationally televised MENC World's Largest Concert on PBS. Several of her works have been premiered at annual conventions of the American Choral Directors Association, the Music Educators National Conference and on the Hour of Power at the Crystal Cathedral. Linda was a featured conductor at Carnegie Hall in New York in 1999. Her work has won repeated awards from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) in recognition of her outstanding achievements and success. She has composed commissions for many large massed groups around the country (many of these compositions have become signature pieces for the choirs). In addition to membership in ASCAP, Linda is a member of The American Choral Director's Association (ACDA), The Music Educators National Convention (MENC), the National Teachers of Singing (NATS), and Sigma Alpha Iota (SAI), a professional sorority of women musicians. In addition to her published titles, she has authored seven choral collections, five piano books and six vocal collections. Linda's energy and devotion to working with singers at all levels have resulted in numerous invitations as guest conductor for various national, state, regional and choir, church, and school honor festivals. Linda's schedule includes conducting, judging and teaching across the United States and Canada. Linda has an education degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison with her primary emphasis on voice, piano and theory. She has since worked extensively with elementary, junior and senior high school choirs, community choirs consisting of youth, high school, college and adult levels as well as church choirs of all sizes and denominations. Linda is one of the most sought after judges, workshop and reading session clinicians in the country. Her dynamic clinic presentations include a variety of topics from vocal technique, creative programming, teaching musical sensitivity through literature, success with the non-singer, recruiting and teaching males, editing accompaniments, composing a mini-opera, creative workshops combining youth/adult choirs, working and recruiting the male singer and a motivational/inspirational sessions. Chuck Marohnic | Hal Leonard Chuck Marohnic Chuck Marohnic has enjoyed a multi-faceted career. Starting four decades ago as a jazz pianist, today he is a respected musician, educator, author, composer and arranger. For 13 years, Chuck had the privilege of serving as Music Director in numerous churches including United Methodist, Roman Catholic and United Churches of Christ. He also has been a frequent guest performer and clinician at many Lutheran, Presbyterian and other churches, including serving for over five years as Director of Music for the well known Studio worship service at Scottsdale Congregational United Church of Christ. He currently serves as Associate Director of Music for St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Community, Louisville, KY. Chuck has recorded 35 albums and CDs. Downbeat Magazine awarded his performances 4 stars. Early in his career, Chuck worked as a sideman with Ira Sullivan, Joe Henderson, Jamey Aebersold, Buddy Rich, Chet Baker and many others. He has served as a visiting clinician and performer at festivals in Germany, Brazil and France. For five years he acted as Coordinator of Jazz Studies and a guest artist at the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival in Fairbanks, Alaska. In May of 1998, Having retired in 2003, Chuck was the Director of Jazz Studies at Arizona State University since 1981. His former students include John Medeski of Medeski, Martin and Wood; Scott Henderson of Tribal Tech; Phil Strange, formerly with Joe Henderson; German pianist Klaus Ignatzek; Tim Ray, pianist for Lyle Lovett; and Joey Sellers, now a prominent educator/arranger living in S. California. Chuck has written four jazz publications. In addition, Chuck has written jazz piano arrangements of familiar church hymns and worship and praise songs, taking them from inside church walls to the entire community. What started as a sabbatical leave project from his position as Director of Jazz Studies at Arizona State University, turned into a book entitled Sanctuary Jazz, (July 1998, Shawnee Press). Joseph Martin, acclaimed pianist and keyboard editor for Shawnee Press says, ""Chuck is one of the best writers in the country today."" Buryl Red | Hal Leonard Buryl Red Buryl Red, as a composer, arranger, conductor, orchestrator and producer, has participated in literally thousands of projects, many of them award-winning, for television, film, recording and publishing around the world. Starting with his first public performance at age four as soloist in a tent revival in his hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas, his musical life has been unusually diverse and eclectic. After earning degrees in music from Baylor University and Yale University, he took up residence in New York City where he has one of the most advanced digital and computer music studios in the city. Several of his choral works are considered landmarks in their fields. He has been author, consultant and producer of some of the most widely used school music textbooks in the United States. He is the Musical Director of The Centurymen, a professional male chorus whose members are themselves choral conductors. His works have been described by the Washington Post as "uncommonly creative."

Paris Rutherford | Hal Leonard Paris Rutherford Paris Rutherford is considered one of the top vocal jazz arrangers in the country today. His arrangements focus carefully on singability in the lyric and voice leading, and are crafted to bring an unusual touch to the music. Mr. Rutherford is Professor in Jazz Studies at the University of North Texas, where he directs the award-winning UNT Jazz Singers and teaches courses in jazz arranging, song writing, and broadcast music. He also heads the degree program in vocal jazz. Under Rutherford's direction, the Jazz Singers have performed for the International Association for Jazz Education, Music Educators National Conference, American Choral Directors Association, and many jazz festivals around the country, as well as for the summer vocal jazz workshop, held annually on the UNT campus. Their recordings are heard on six CDs. Paris Rutherford brings a wealth of experience to his vocal jazz writing. A former member of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Dallas Summer Musicals (trombone), and long experience as performer, composer and producer in the recording studios of Dallas, Los Angeles, London, England, and Cologne, Germany, his arrangements reflect the diversity of those varied activities. He is in demand as a clinician in vocal jazz, both as a director and as a writer.
