Written by bass expert Jon Liebman, Play like Jaco Pastorius (HL00128409/$19.99) digs deep into the trademark songs, lines, and tones of Jaco. It provides detailed analysis of his gear, techniques, styles, songs, riffs, and much more. Players will learn everything they need to know about Jaco's legendary playing, from his tenure in Weather Report to his jaw-dropping solo albums and beyond. The book features music spanning his entire career, including five full songs: "Birdland," "The Chicken," "Donna Lee," "Portrait of Tracy," and "Teen Town." Also new at the Summer NAMM show will be Jaco Pastorius Bass Play-Along (HL00128407/$17.99), the 50th volume in Hal Leonard's popular series for bassists. This book includes eight songs with sound-alike audio tracks so players can follow the tab in the book, listen to the audio to hear how the bass should sound, then play along using the separate backing tracks. The charts feature authentic transcriptions based on the original recordings. The melody and lyrics are included in the book in case players also want to sing or to simply help them follow along.
