Sax Soliloquy is a light and fast moving number, giving a lilting effect to the composition. It opens with a Maestoso for Band with a Recitative by the first saxophonist, thereafter entering into the lilting Allegro. After this movement there is a melodious Andante. Returning to the Allegro with some repetition of the first Allegro, the composition is concluded with a Vivace that affords a satisfying finale. This version is for Saxophone Quartet (AATB or AATT) and Piano. A version for Saxophone Quartet and Band is available for rental from the publisher.
