A frontier settlement at the edge of the kingdom is under attack! Granted magical abilities by the Arcane Empress for being pure of heart, our hero harnesses the power of the river surrounding the village to fight back the intruders. No matter the force brought against him, he could not be defeated. With the retreat of a demoralized enemy complete, the legend of the Warrior of the River is born. This piece features powerful unified rhythms as well as call-and-response sections. It was designed to include the use of C natural on the A string for all parts. First position is maintained for the entire orchestra with one exception in the bass part. The use of slurs, accents, and a wide dynamic range provides a variety of bow development opportunities.
