For Three Aspects of Kurt Weill, Peter Kleine Schaars took inspiration from the three periods that characterize the life of Weill – he successively lived in Berlin, Paris and New York. One theme is used to create three totally different atmospheres: a protest march against the fascists in Berlin; a French musette (valse de Paris); and an American big band-style Broadway orchestra.
