Le Jardin de lumière was written for Catherine Brisset and her unusual instrument, the Cristal Baschet. This instrument, a kind of extended glass harmonica, was developed by the Baschet brothers in 1952. From the beginning, several versions of the piece were planned, first for violin and Cristal Baschet, then violin and piano, flute and piano, and flute and Cristal Baschet. Inspired is Thierry Pécou's friendship with Pascal Cibier, a gardener and landscape architect.
