Fiddler on the Roof endures as one of the landmark musicals of all time. Michael Brown's opening production for the field starts with a “flute on the roof,” joined shortly by a solo clarinet. After a quick build to a climax, “Matchmaker” is treated creatively in 4/4 and a driving tempo. With plenty of variety and powerful ensemble scoring, this is a perfect way to open a show.
