“French composer, Alfred Désenclos (1912-1971) described his music as romantic. His music is expressive and atmospheric, as heard in his Plainchant and Allegretto for Trombone and Piano. Désenclos studied at the Roubaix Conservatory and he won the 1942 Prix de Rome. His Plainchant and Allegretto was published in 1965, towards the end of the composer's life. A typical performance lasts around eight minutes, in which the Trombone solo line is enhanced by rhythm, and technique. As expected, the two movements are contrasting, suitable for the advanced trombonist. For all Trombone players seeking alternative and challenging repertoire, Désenclos' Plainchant and Allegretto makes for a riveting performance.”
