Dr. Robert Pace has been a leader in music education for over 40 years as a performer, teacher, and author. He did his undergraduate study at the Juilliard School with the legendary teachers Josef and Rosina Lhevinne and earned his master’s and doctoral degrees at Teacher's College, Columbia University. He first taught at Juilliard before becoming head of piano instruction at Teachers College in 1952. Later, he served as piano editor of Music Journal, as National Piano chairman of the Music Educators National Conference, chairman of the Teachers College music Department, and was Educational Director of the National Piano Foundations from its inception in 1963 until 1977, when be became Executive Director of the International Piano Teaching Foundation. He was a member of the original four-member committee appointed by President John F. Kennedy to make a study of music in the United States.

Christine Bass | Hal Leonard Christine Bass Former director of Temple University’s Men’s and Women’s Choruses and Assistant Professor of Music Education, previously DCA at Cherry Hill West high school where her program grew from 60 to 325 in seven choirs. Christine taught Choral Conducting at Rowan University, her choirs have performed at multiple ACDA and MENC National and Eastern Conventions. Her men’s a cappella group, Men of Note, won three consecutive National Championships for Best of High School A Cappella. A Westminster Choir College graduate, receiving their Alumni Merit Award, Alumni Ambassador Award, New Jersey MENC Master Music Teacher and the Governor's Award. Christine has conducted numerous All State and Honors Choirs including the 2009 ACDA All National High School Honors Choir. She is a guest conductor, adjudicator and clinician presenting workshops across the country and internationally. Ukulele Ensemble Classroom uke ensembles are springing up in schools and music programs everywhere! These books provide music for the whole group to enjoy. The songs in each collection are playable by any combination of ukuleles (soprano, concert, tenor or baritone). Each arrangement features the melody, a harmony part, and a 'bass' line. 2023 Voices of Distinction > The King's Singers The King’s Singers have represented the gold standard in a cappella singing on the world’s greatest stages for over fifty years. The King’s Singers were formed in 1968, when six recent choral scholars from King’s College, Cambridge gave a concert at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall. By chance, the group was made up of two countertenors, a tenor, two baritones and a bass, and the group has maintained this formation ever since that debut.

Transcribed Score Transcribed Score are vocal and instrumental arrangements of music from some of the greatest groups in music. These excellent publications feature transcribed parts for lead vocals, backup vocals, lead guitar, rhythm guitar, bass, drums and all of the various instruments used in each specific recording session. All songs are arranged exactly the way the artists recorded them.

Sharon Burch | Hal Leonard Sharon Burch Sharon Burch began teaching general music in 1987. Constantly pursuing the best methods of educationally connecting with students, she is a certified teacher with the International Piano Teaching Foundation, earned a master’s degree as a Professional Educator and uses a combination of strategies to enable kids to experience concepts in the classroom. Teaching creatively, Sharon introduced Freddie the Frog to her classroom of music students in 1995 and discovered the magic of games, storytelling and puppetry in teaching. She authored Freddie the Frog and the Thump in the Night, Freddie the Frog and the Bass Clef Monster, Freddie the Frog and the Mysterious Wahooooo, and Freddie the Frog and the Secret of Crater Island as the first of several adventuresome stories introducing fundamental music concepts. Collaborating with jazz double bass player and elementary educator, Sherry Luchette, the next book introduces jazz through scat and improv in an interactive story—Freddie the Frog and the Flying Jazz Kitten. Sharon and Sherry serve on the Jazz Education Network Elementary Jazz Committee. Sharon enjoys sharing her teaching strategies atmusic conferences and clinics with teachers around the globe and teaches general music to the K-3 students in the Centerville Community School District in Centerville, Iowa. 2023 Voices of Distinction > Jonathan Palant Choral Series Jonathan Palant is Associate Dean of the Arts and Director of Choral Activities at the University of Texas at Dallas. He is founder and conductor of the Credo Community Choir and the Dallas Street Choir, a musical outlet for those affected by homelessness. Recently, Musical America named him one of their “innovators of the Year” for his work. Jonathan’s initial publication with Hal Leonard was his book “Brother, Sing On! Conducting the Tenor Bass Choir”. This led us to start a series dedicated to young men. Since then, as Jonathan’s profile has expanded nationally and internationally, so has his series and now contains music for mixed voices as well as for young men.
