Carl J. Nygard, Jr. | Hal Leonard Carl J. Nygard, Jr. Carl J. Nygard Jr. is a resident of Pennsylvania, with degrees (B.S. in Music Education, M.M. in Composition) from West Chester University. More than 100 pieces of his choral music have been published. His music has been broadcast in Europe, Africa, South America, North America and Australia, and has been sung by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Cleveland Symphony Chorus and the 1,400-voice Ocean Grove (N.J.) Festival Choir, as well as church, school, college and community choirs across America. He and his wife, Dorian, are active in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, and are the proud parents of two grown sons.

Libby Larsen | Hal Leonard Libby Larsen Grammy Award-winning Libby Larsen is one of America’s most performed living composers, with works spanning virtually every genre. As a vigorous, articulate advocate for the music and musicians of our time, she was a co-founder in 1973 of the Minnesota Composers Forum (now the American Composer’s Forum). She is a former holder of the Papamarkou Chair at John W. Russell Robinson | Hal Leonard Russell Robinson Dr. Russell L. Robinson, Emeritus Professor Music Education at the University of Florida, has made over 300 appearances as a conductor, speaker, consultant and presenter at festivals, workshops, honor choirs, all-state choirs and state, regional, national and international conferences in the US, Europe, Asia, Africa, Central America, South America, Mexico, Canada, the Middle East, and Australia as well as conducting venues, which include: Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, Boston's Symphony Hall, the White House, and Washington's National Cathedral. Dr. Robinson was the 2016 inductee into the Florida Music Educators Association (FMEA) Hall of Fame, and is a past President of FMEA, Associate Dean of the UF College of the Arts, National Collegiate Chair and Choral Adviser for the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). Victoria Sabo | Hal Leonard Victoria Sabo Victoria Sabo, pianist, composer, and teacher, credits her inspiration for her compositions to her mountain climbing, back country skiing and wilderness backpacking experiences. She obtained her master's of music degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and her bachelor's of music from the University of Colorado. Ms. Sabo's children's choral composition has been chosen for state music festivals across America. John Thompson | Hal Leonard John Thompson American pianist/composer John Thompson (1889-1963) was born in Pennsylvania. At an early age, he appeared as a concert pianist in all the principal cities of America and Europe, where his brilliant playing received much praise. After concluding his concert career, he headed music departments at conservatories in Philadelphia, Indianapolis, and Kansas City. During these tenures he developed certain definite and original ideas about teaching, and in a short time became famous for his sincere efforts to interest young students in pianism. 2023 Voices of Distinction > Jonathan Palant Choral Series Jonathan Palant is Associate Dean of the Arts and Director of Choral Activities at the University of Texas at Dallas. He is founder and conductor of the Credo Community Choir and the Dallas Street Choir, a musical outlet for those affected by homelessness. Recently, Musical America named him one of their “innovators of the Year” for his work. Jonathan’s initial publication with Hal Leonard was his book “Brother, Sing On! Conducting the Tenor Bass Choir”. This led us to start a series dedicated to young men. Since then, as Jonathan’s profile has expanded nationally and internationally, so has his series and now contains music for mixed voices as well as for young men.

Jim Andy Caudill | Hal Leonard Jim Andy Caudill Mr. Caudill was born in Ashland, Kentucky in 1932 and began his musical career at age 5 when his father taught him to play trumpet. In 1950, he toured America as a national champion soloist. While earning his Bachelor of Arts degree from Morehead State University (KY) and Master of Arts from Marshall University (WV), he started composing and arranging for concert, jazz and marching bands. As an educator, Mr. Caudill taught in the public schools until 1968 when he accepted a position at Pikeville College (KY). While at Pikeville College, he taught trumpet, music theory, orchestration, teaching methods, and conducted the Wind Ensemble, retiring in 1997. Notable publications for band include Landmark Overture, Folklore for Band, Odyssey for Band and Heritage Overture.
